April 20th - Even the unclement weather couldn't dampen the spirits of the LGTJRC meeting at Much Hoole. Over 100 riders turned up for what was a fantastic days competition. A minutes silence was observed by all in remembrance of former LGTJRC member Tom Begin before the start of the meeting. -  Full report

April 9th 2008 Tragic Loss:- I am sorry to have to report that Tom Begin (pictured above right) tragically lost his life whilst practising on his Yamaha R1 road race bike at Oulton Park at the weekend. Tom rode his Short-Track style KTM to second place in the LGTJRC Adult unlimited MX class of 2006 and was a very impressive rider who will be sadly missed. Our sincerest condolences go to Tom's family, friends and loved ones. - R.I.P. Tom Begin.

Meeting preview:-

Entries are now in for the meeting at Much Hoole on Sunday the 20th April and it looks set to be a great day of racing! Adult classes are very well attended and we can look forward to some fantastic action not least in the Adult 250's and Adult Unlimited Moto X. Youth classes are a little less well supported, as is often the case at this early stage of the season but the Junior class will see some very competitive riding from established racers like Josh Rockley and Nathan Greaves battling it out with 'Star of the shale' Reece Downes. Throw into this mix a couple of newcomers to the club including Joe Young, who gave a very good account of himself in his first ride at Scunthorpe last month and we can expect the usual high level of excitement and atmosphere. Hope to see you there.

p.s. Please remember:- if you would like to take pictures or video footage of the meeting you must first register your camera at the 'signing-on' tent on your arrival, thankyou.

Closing date for regs to Much Hoole April 20th meeting is Saturday 5th April

LGTJRC - Have been informed that we are to expect a spot visit from Lancashire County Council Health and Safety Officers following recent unanounced visits to MX events around the Lancashire boundries - It is therefore imperative that we all stick to the ACU regs regarding the carrying of a 2kg dry powder extingisher, bikes on enviromental mats and all generators to be earthed to the ground - these are area's that LCC are clamping down on within the paddock and do hold the powers to cancel any of our meetings on the spot. We would like to thank you in advance for your co-operation in this area.

May 9th
LGTJRC would like to thank all concerned with the recent success of the bringing together of grasstrack and speedway.
It was a great boost for the Club to have Belle Vue speedway rider Kevin Doolan take to the grass, also to generate the interest of Channel M,who we believe did the Club what can only be described as excellent publicity.
Special thanks must also go to Jeff Howarth whom worked with Kevin and Channel M to ensure the day went smoothly.
You can view footage of the day here
